Help › Light and dark mode

One switch, and the whole city follows it: the community, the classroom, Live Labs and these help pages.

Where the switch is

The button sits in the top bar, at the right of the menu, next to the menu button on a phone. It always tells you what you will get, not what you are in:

What the choice covers

You choose it once. Moving between the community and the classroom does not change it, and closing the browser does not change it either.

If you have never chosen

With no choice saved, the site follows your device. Change your phone or computer to dark and the city goes dark with it. The moment you press the switch yourself, your choice takes over and the device setting stops applying until you clear the site's cookies.

If a page looks wrong

  1. Check the label. If it reads Dark mode, you are in light mode. Press it and wait a moment; the page redraws without reloading.
  2. Hard refresh. Press Ctrl and Shift and R together on Windows, or Cmd, Shift and R on a Mac. This clears an older copy of the styles from your browser.
  3. Still wrong on one page only? Tell us through the contact form and name the page. That means a page is missing the shared styling rather than the switch being broken.

Why two looks rather than one. Light mode uses the platform's own light colours so reading long threads and lesson notes is comfortable in daylight. Dark mode uses the AI Universe City palette, deep green with teal and gold, for evening work and for anyone who prefers a dark screen. Nothing changes except colour: same content, same links, same lessons.
